Mariner Vernal Pool Conservation Bank

Mariner Vernal Pool Conservation Bank

The Mariner Vernal Pool Conservation Bank is a 160-site located outside of Lincoln, California in Placer County. The Bank is credited to sell vernal pool preservation credits to off-set impacts to vernal pool habitat, required under the Endangered Species Act and as authorized by U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The Bank is authorized to service clients in Western Placer County.

The Mariner Vernal Pool Conservation Bank is located adjacent to the recently conserved 531-acre Rockwell property. In total, these properties will help complete a 691-acre vernal pool complex on the western edge of the city of Lincoln. Vernal pool s are shallow seasonal wetlands that bloom in the winter and spring with a profusion of wildflowers and a host of unique creatures, including freshwater shrimp that live for only a few weeks. The vernal pool fairy shrimp is listed as Threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act.
